The Designer’s Printer

Old North State Press is a family-run business. We are passionate about the timeless craft of letterpress printing. Working side by side in our shop, we combine traditional techniques with a modern eye for design to create pieces that are as meaningful as they are memorable. Every project we take on is a true collaboration — and we take pride in making the process personal, thoughtful, and enjoyable.

Chris (CP)
Chris is a classically-trained designer and typographer, and expert pressman. He holds an MFA in Design from Yale School of Art where he was first introduced to letterpress and traditional printing methods. Chris enjoys fretting over the details and coaxing beauty from ink, pressure and paper.

Murphy
Our first shop pup, sadly, is no longer with us. He was a very good boy and is greatly missed.

Finn
This faffer came along in 2024 to claim the mantle of Print Shop Pup. However, he is not quite there yet as he is still getting used to all the loud noises…he is, however, a good escort on Chris’ 30 ft commute each morning.

Ever-Evolving.

At Old North State Press, we are dedicated to preserving the tradition, heritage, and craft of fine letterpress printing.

In addition to supporting custom client work, we occassionally produce original designs for our shop.

Above all, we enjoy collaborating with our clients and other designers to make beautiful things to fit most any budget.
