From Corporate America to Craft: Our Journey to Full-Time Letterpress Printing

Our Go-To press: A Heidelberg “Windmill” 10×15 Platen Press

After more than 30 years in the world of corporate design, I’m thrilled to announce that we’ve officially turned our long-standing passion for letterpress printing into a full-time endeavor. What started as a creative escape from the fast-paced world of digital transformation, software product design and development, and client meetings has grown into something far more meaningful to us—a craft we’re proud to now call our life’s work.

I love it when a plan comes together
— John "Hannibal" Smith, The A-Team

Letterpress has always held a special place in our hearts. There’s something deeply satisfying about the tactile nature of the process—the smell of ink, the weight of the paper, the clink and whirr of vintage presses at work.

In a world increasingly dominated by digital speed and screen fatigue, letterpress is a return to patience, precision, and presence. Every print we make is a small work of art, with its own character and imperfection, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Over the years, while juggling full-time roles in technology—driving digital transformations, managing creative teams, pitching to executives and boards—I’ve kept our presses running on nights and weekends, with Danielle at my side. Together, we poured ourselves into learning the intricacies of type, paper, and ink; scoured our growing network for equipment; and built relationships with fellow printers, paper mills, and designers who shared our love for analog craftsmanship. Letterpress was more than a hobby—it was often our refuge, our reset, and our creative freedom. And while we had the pleasure of helping hundreds of friends and clients along the way, it was an endeavor we could only engage in part-time.

Then, along came COVID, which ultimately required us to put the press in hibernation mode, effectively pausing our part-time projects and any client work. It was super stressful for all of us.

Now, we’re excited to be taking our passion full-time. This shift isn’t just about leaving corporate life behind—it’s about returning to what inspired me to become a designer in the first place: the love of typography, the beauty of materials, and the joy of making things by hand.

We specialize in custom letterpress printing for weddings, events, businesses, individuals, and more. Whether you’re looking for a refined business card with deep impression, a timeless wedding suite on cotton paper, or a one-of-a-kind art print, we bring decades of design experience and a deep respect for traditional printing techniques to every project.

What sets us apart is our fusion of design expertise and printing craftsmanship. We approach each piece not just as printers, but as seasoned designers who understand how type, color, and detail work together to tell a story. Every job is personal. Every detail matters. And we work closely with our clients to ensure that their vision comes to life—beautifully, and thoughtfully—on press.

I have many sketchbooks over-flowing with ideas and projects to print. Along the way, we’ve only managed to find time to achieve a few of these alongside our client work. Fortunately, we now have the time to bring these projects to life alongside supporting our clients. You may recall a few passion projects we created:

Stay tuned to this space as these projects come to light. We’ll be sharing what we’re up to and details of the process. Sign up for our studio newsletter to stay in touch.

We’re incredibly grateful for the journey that brought us here, and even more excited for what’s ahead. If you’ve followed our work over the years, thank you for your support. If you’re new to letterpress or curious about what we do, we’d love to welcome you into our world.

Here’s to a new chapter—one rooted in craftsmanship, creativity, and the timeless charm of ink on paper.

Thank you to all our friends, clients, and supporters over the last many years! It’s been a pleasure designing and printing for you. Please help get the word out that we’re here - full-time - and ready to print!
