We are happiest when we are working with others to bring ideas to life.
When I was getting married, I didn't know what I wanted for my invitations. The only thing I knew for sure was that we were getting married on the beach! Even though I was in Florida and they were in North Carolina, it was very easy to communicate with them. When talking with Chris and Danielle, they asked questions about the two of us and got a great sense of what were envisioning for our ceremony and reception. When I explained the types of flowers that I wanted and sent a photo of the Tommy Bahama shirts for the groom and groomsmen, Chris came up with his idea for the tropical theme featuring palm leaves. We loved how it set the visual tone for the wedding to come and was unique to us.
I am a designer working on the branding for an interesting local business in Raleigh, NC, Brewery Bhavana: brewery, flowershop, dim sum restaurant, and bookstore. Old North State Press did multiple jobs for this project — all of them were top-notch! I would recommend them to anyone who wants a high-quality print/design, something very tactile, and something that has a personal touch. They use old letterpress machines – I was able to see the process, and it is the only way to get this kind of quality. Way better than digital printing. We looked for a long time to find a printer who could produce the best quality at a good value. This is the best by far and I will continue giving them my business. They offer really beautiful printing techniques like gold/silver/colored foil and embossing. They are very good about selecting the best paper, ink, and process to bring the design to life. I used them for two postcard designs, stationary, menus, and giftcards. See their Instagram for photos of these projects — I can explain the quality in writing, but you really need to see it, or better yet: if you are in the Raleigh, NC area, go check out Brewery Bhavana to see the menus.
Old North State Press created custom invitations for two of my daughters and their weddings. After my first daughter's experience, we couldn't imagine partnering with anyone else for wedding number two!
Chris was exceptional from start to finish, providing custom design, excellent materials, flawless production, and professional communication. In each case, he got to know my daughter and son-in-law and what they wanted in the way of invitations, but also learned about their event, and their interests, tastes, and style. Then he went through an iterative design process, proposing some concepts and color palettes, throwing some away, and coming up with new ideas, until the perfect concept was landed on in the eyes of the wedding couple. Then further iterations to refine and work out all of the details. He offered options for paper stock, fonts, imagery, and packaging, but also offered expertise on the printing and packaging process to end up with something truly special. Chris is a craftsman who pours himself into his craft. He's detail oriented and eager to please. Plus he's a genuinely nice person.
In the end, there was no drama, no missed expectations, no miscommunications, just execution on time as promised and a result that was beautiful and unique. Couldn't recommend anyone more strongly.
